Who We Are
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States is a national association of Veterans who, as Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen, served this Nation in wars, campaigns, and expeditions on foreign soil or in hostile waters.
VFW Post 293 is known as "The Willamette Post" and was chartered on February 5th, 1920. We currently have over 285 members who span every major conflict from WWII to the present day.
The VFW sets itself apart from other Veterans Service Organizations in that all of its members MUST have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and either received an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge, or be currently serving
and
Must have served in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters.

Our Purpose and How We Serve
Our purposes are fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational, and are:

to preserve and strengthen comradeship among our members;

to assist worthy comrades;

to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their surviving spouses and orphans;

to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws;

to foster true patriotism;

to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and

to preserve and defend the United States from all enemies.
